How does it work?
A Select Licence Agreement lasts for three years but gives you on-going rights to the software versions you've installed. The agreement is based on predicting your software needs.
To get the best discounts, you need to 'forecast' your software usage each year. You forecast your usage over the three years of the agreement from three product pools (or categories) applications, operating systems and servers, and your price level is based on this forecast. Each year your usage is checked and your price level may be increased or decreased depending on usage.

Enhance your Select Licence Agreement with Software Assurance
If you take out Software Assurance at the same time as your Select Licence Agreement, you'll get the right to upgrade to any subsequent version(s) of the product you've purchased, as long as the release occurred while your product licence was covered by Software Assurance. You'll also get productivity resources, support and training benefits. Select customers also have the option to become Software Assurance Members (SAM) to get access to extra benefits. Select SAM enables a customer to designate a product (applications, systems or servers) pool, for Software Assurance Membership. This means that any licence acquired within the designated product pool has to be purchased with Software Assurance
